"I regard each dog I work with as an individual. What may work with one dog, may not work with the next. I take the time to understand each dog's specific needs and motivations. From there, I work together with the guardian to begin the process of changing behaviour using scientific, reinforcement based protocols, proven by years of research.. It's important to me that I not only help the dog, but empower the owner to continue on to achieve success."

Jen has been working with and caring for animals as long as she can remember, and has over a decade of experience in the zoo and aquarium field. Jen was first exposed to Karen Pryor’s important work on how animals learn while training fish, aquatic turtles and even stingrays. When Jen started training dogs, she realized just how much the same principles of positive reinforcement apply to dogs, and was instantly hooked. Jen began her education at the Dogstars Training Academy and is currently working toward gaining her CPDT-KA certification. Jen is Pet First Aid certified with Walks ’N’ Wags, and has attended seminars by Chirag Patel and Kathy Sdao. Jen is actively pursuing her education in the world of dog training and is honoured to have the opportunity to train alongside Shelagh and the other talented trainers at Dizine Canine.

Jen competes in CARO Rally Obedience with her 3 year old Havanese, Archer. They’ve completed the Novice, Novice Team, and Advanced titles and are currently competing in Excellent and Advanced Team. Jen teaches Early Start for Puppy , Life Skills and Rally Obedience

“I am passionate about teaching puppies because I love to help people start out on the right foot with their dog. It’s such a pleasure for me to be able to explain to people how their puppy or dog sees the world and how we can work with them to increase the bond of trust between dog and guardian. I can help people enjoy their lives with their dogs even more and that is what drives me to train dogs and their guardians and introduce them to these powerful, scientifically proven training techniques.”
