Early Start For Puppies

Start off on the right paw!

The weeks after you bring your puppy home are the most critical for socialization. Introduction to other dogs, people, smells, sounds, and sights are all a part of your puppy’s development. The lack of socialization can lead to serious behaviour challenges later on.

Let Dizine Canine’s Early Start for Puppy program help you and your puppy get on the right track. We provide a controlled environment of socialization to other puppies and people as well as get your pup started with an early foundation of social skills to prepare them for their adventures ahead. Our group discussions at the end of each class will cover everything from polite greetings to potty training.

Life Skills; Basic Manners

Sit, stay, greetings and more!

Is your dog struggling with staying focused in a busy environment? Jumping on guests when they come for a visit? Or simply having a hard time sitting when outside of the home? Good news! We're here to help.

Dizine Canine’s Life Skills; Basic Manners program is geared to help with “real world” challenges, and set your dog up for success outside of the classroom.

Our on-going enrolment program means you can join in at any time without missing important lessons.  Work at you and your dog’s own pace, and learn to apply your newly learned skills to all environments.

Reactive Dog

Gain confidence while working with your reactive dog.

Reactive Dog

Gain confidence while working with your reactive dog.

This is a class for those dogs that make an embarrassing display at the end of their leash at the sight of other dogs, or other stimulus. This class will teach focus, redirection and distraction techniques, along with effective handling.

You will learn how to understand your dog’s body language, threshold capability, and learn to recognize and navigate triggers. Most importantly, gain confidence while working with your reactive dog.

Class size is small (4 dogs maximum) to allow for one-on-one instruction, and each class is customized depending on the dogs attending. With registration, participants may choose to include a copy of Patricia McConnell's book "Feisty Fido."

The goal of these classes is to be able to walk your dog as calmly and stress-free as possible, and to lessen his reactive behaviour while on leash. These classes are NOT for those wanting to improve their dog's social skills with other dogs. If that is the desired outcome, please contact Dizine Canine for a private session.

First class is handlers only. No dogs.

Last class is held outdoors.

Classes to resume Fall 2017

Your instructor for this class is Faren Sandberg. Faren first became involved in agility over 13 years ago with her rescued Border Collie cross, Amigo (now retired). It didn’t take long for her to become hooked on this addictive sport!

Along with teaching agility at Superfly in North Vancouver, Faren has also trained four of her own dogs to compete in AAC agility trials at a regional and national level. Amigo placed in the top 6 at AAC Regionals in 2008 & 2009. Faren was delighted to recently place 4th with her rescued Border Collie x Shepherd, Beezer, at the 2013 B.C/Yukon Regional Championships.

Faren is also a regular member of the President’s Choice SuperDogs team and for the third time this year will be delighting crowds at the PNE summer fair with all her dogs.

Although agility is her passion, she also works her dogs in Flyball and French Ring. She has also dabbled in Nosework and sheep herding.

Faren continues her education by attending seminars in multiple venues and will obtain her CPDT in the coming year.

For more information regarding these classes, or to register, please contact Faren directly at agilityocd@gmail.com
